A LIFE LIVED

Rain Fell On Me ~ Michael Nin

[Intro – Guitar]

We stepped out of the theater door
Into a sky that had broken open
Rain fell like a thousand whispers
From a world that had been unspoken

The streetlights trembled in the pavement
Like gold dissolving in the night
And you moved through the falling water
Like it parted for your light

[Chorus]

She walks between the raindrops
With a smile that still haunts me
Like the night itself was holding her
Where the falling water couldn’t be

She walks between the raindrops
Like the storm just lets her through
And every drop that missed her
Fell somewhere inside of me

[Verse 2]

Your laughter drifted through the thunder
Soft as music in the rain
Every step you took beside me
Was rewriting time again

Your hair caught silver from the streetlight
Your eyes held something wild and free
And the storm that soaked the whole world
Couldn’t lay a hand on me

[Chorus]

She walks between the raindrops
With a smile that still haunts me
Like the night itself was holding her
Where the falling water couldn’t be

She walks between the raindrops
Like the storm just lets her through
And every drop that missed her
Fell somewhere inside of me

[Verse 3]

Now some nights the rain comes back again
Soft against the windowpane
And I swear I see you moving there
Just beyond the falling rain

Like love itself had found a doorway
Hidden somewhere in that storm
Where a girl stepped out of heaven
And the world was suddenly warm

[Bridge]

Maybe angels bend the weather
Just to let a moment be
Maybe love lives in the spaces
Where the world can’t quite see

Can’t quite see

[Outro]

The rain that fell on me
The rain that fell on me

Rain Fell On Me — Liner Notes

This song comes from a memory that never really faded.

It was the first time my wife and I went out together. We had gone to see a movie, and when we stepped out of the theater the sky had opened up into a full downpour. The streetlights were glowing in the rain and the whole night had that quiet, cinematic feeling that sometimes happens when the world slows down for a moment.

What I remember most is the way she walked through it. The rain was coming down everywhere, but somehow it felt like it never touched her. She moved through the storm like she was slipping between the drops themselves — completely calm, smiling, almost as if the weather had stepped aside just for her.

That image stayed with me for years.

Rain Fell On Me is my attempt to capture that moment — the magic of seeing someone for the first time and realizing, even if you didn’t have the words for it yet, that something in your life had just changed forever. Sometimes love doesn’t arrive with fireworks or grand declarations.

Sometimes it simply walks out of a theater, into the rain… and somehow never gets wet.
